Review: 3D Revelator 8.11.99
By: Jarret Griffis

    Conclusion

Operating such an impressive piece of eyewear was quite an experience.  And it proves that stereoscopic vision isn't a fad anymore, it's the future.  The age of 3D glasses is come, and the 3D Revelator is on the forefront.  To sum it up, these shudder glasses are to gaming what the CD-ROM is to a computer.  You may not need one, but your life is pretty bland when you do without.

Perhaps the only downside is that it can only be used with Elsa graphics accelerators (the Winner II, Victory II, Erazor II and Erazor III).  It's actually an ingenious idea on their part: Bundle a killer pair of 3D glasses that will only work with our products, and we instantly have a consumer base that will continue to come back for more.  The idea may cause some resentment among hardcore gamers, but in the end, being stuck with Elsa products isn't all that bad. Considering that most of their accelerators are on par with, or faster than nearly every major competitor, you really can't go wrong.

Pros:  Flicker free; high-resolution modes; works with almost all Direct 3D games

Cons:  Can only be used with Elsa graphics cards; not recommended for monitors with refresh rates below 100 Hz

Final Thought:  The 3D Revelator is an excellent piece of eyewear, and while it doesn't revolutionize 3D, it certainly takes it in the right direction

    Score:

    90%
