Midiland Forzando Plus 01.18.99
Company Info:
Midiland started off in 1984 developing MIDI sequencing software and sound cards under the name Data Soft International. In 1989 the
company introduced a magnetically shielded speaker system for home and business computer systems. Seeing the potential growth in
the international multimedia market they relocated to San Dimas California and changed their name to Midiland. In recent years Midiland
has grown to be one of the industries leading manufacturers of multimedia speaker systems.
Product Info: The Forzando Plus features a 3-way speaker system with full-range capabilities. Two satellite speakers, each is comprised of a tweeter
and a midrange driver. The 5" subwoofer gives a substantial amount of bass. With an output power of 35 watts, the listener can enjoy
powerful music all the time. A separate bass volume control lets the user adjust to his/her personal desire. The music can be greatly
enhanced with the 3-D surround sound effect. This can be accomplished by pushing on the 3-D button whenever you want the sound to
feel as if it was alive. The appearance of the Forzando Plus also has something to be talked about. The slick and stylish design makes
this system very attractive. Each piece is designed with a black cloth grill on the front and MidiLand's eye-catching logo. The subwoofer
is enclosed by a sturdy wood cabinet therefore providing a deeper bass response. Included is also an easy to follow instruction
mult-lingual user\rquote s manual. (midiland.com)

Midiland Fozando Plus
Design: The Forzando plus has a very unique design compared to other speakers found today. While today most speakers are looking more and
more like something from the future, Midiland has choosen to go with a more retro design. The speaker case is a thick white plastic with a
brown material covering the front. The logo on the in the front sports a script font which fits the retro design. The speakers are a good size
as the speakers and subwoofer are not oversized, making the Forzandos great for most users who are trying to conserve space. The
Forzando plus's design is perfect for the consumer who prefers a classier look for their home PC sound system.

Sound Quality These speakers have a nice well balanced sound. Though not having the best sound on the market, the Forzando's is still impressive. A
major downside to these speakers would be its lack of treble and bass control. This might be a problem for those who want to have total
control over the sound. Midiland compensates for this by implementing cross-overs inside so at all volumes (even the highest level) the
sound stays even without distorting. Midiland includes 2 separate volume controls, one for main volume and the other for sub volume. The
speakers also have a 3D sound buttons which simulates 3D sound by quickly panning the stereo channels giving the impression that you
are expanding the 3D sound stage. This 3D feature makes the music sound too hallow, but in the end it does enhance the experience of
certain games. Overall being a midranged competitor the Forzando plus has solid sound quality that is suitable for most anyone.

Value: The Forzando Plus retails for $99.95 and has an ESP of $79.95. These are one of the best speakers that sell for under $100 that I have
used. However if you are a proud owner of a sound card that supports 4 outputs you can get the Cambridge PC Works 4-point sound
system for the same price. The Forzando Plus sounds better than the PC Works but the trade off is that with the PC works you get a more
3D sound experience with a 4 speaker system (in my opinion).
score: 75%
Conclusion: The Forzando plus delivers quality sound at a great affordable price. Its two major problems would have to be its lack of bass and treble
controls and its not having 4 speakers. For those who do not mind any of these problems the Forzando plus would be an excellent choice
for speakers. But those who may find no bass and treble controls annoying, or who want 4 speakers for a more 3D effect, they will have to
spend more money to find something with the same quality of sound or settle for something that doesn't sound as good.
