LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC brings a bold new chapter in the Star Wars saga to PC and PlayStation with the May 19 release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Based upon the dramatic narrative of the long awaited motion picture, the Phantom Menace places the fate of the Star Wars galaxy in the hands of gameplayers and challenges them to use the Force -- and their wits -- to overcome perils at every turn.

The Phantom Menace immerses players in the roles of the motion picture's principle characters: Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Amidala and Captain Panaka. As in the theatrical release, the game unfolds with the Galactic Republic engulfed in turmoil. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are dispatched to the planet of Naboo in an attempt to negotiate a settlement to a threatened blockade of trade routes by the nefarious Trade Federation. Upon their arrival, the two Jedi Knights quickly learn that a trap has been set and their fates are in jeopardy, setting the stage for the ultimate struggle to save the Galactic Republic from a powerful and menacing threat.

"Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace delivers an incredibly immersed gameplay experience that captures all the drama and magic of the motion picture," says Joel Dreskin, product marketing manager for LucasArts.

Throughout the game, players encounter dozens of challenging puzzles suitable for novice and veteran action/adventurers as they search for ways to help the inhabitants of Naboo. They’ll interact with hundreds of characters and come face-to-face with an onslaught of enemies, including battle droids, destroyer droids, mercenaries and the evil Darth Maul. From the game's formidable puzzles to its thrilling action sequences, players will participate in the entire captivating story from its mysterious beginning to its unforgettable conclusion.

Phantom Menace takes players through exotic and amazing realms, from the denizen-filled streets of Mos Espa on the desert planet of Tatooine, to the gleaming galactic capital world of Coruscant, Naboo’s lush, green world, and beyond.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was developed in conjunction with Novato, California-based company, Big Ape Productions. The PC version is designed to run under Windows 95/98 and will require 3D hardware acceleration.
